Freedom House
A temporary home for survivors of persecution from around the world seeking legal shelter in the U.S. and Canada. It provides comprehensive services (e.g. shelter, food, clothing, legal aid, medical and psychosocial care, ESL, financial literacy, offsite housing) free of charge. It has a proven track record of working with LGBT populations. Freedom House’s mission is to uphold a fundamental American principle, one inscribed on the base of the Statue of Liberty: To provide safety for those “yearning to breathe free.” In 2012, it became a formal partner in the Northern Tier Anti-Trafficking Consortium servicing victims of human trafficking.
