2015 Retreat Information

We will host our 2015 Annual Retreat Wednesday, October 15 - Saturday, October 17, in Washington, D.C.

Scheduled events include a series of strategy meetings, discussions, training sessions and the official launch of our new publication, Stronger Together, a best practices guide for groups supporting LGBT asylum seekers. See the full schedule of events here.

All events are free to attend – including all lunches, materials and handouts provided.

Supporting the event:

We have worked hard to keep the Retreat attendance completely free. Yet travel and lodging costs can still make it difficult for people to attend – in particular asylum seekers and asylees, whose presence at the Retreat is extremely important.

We are asking those who can afford to do so to consider helping us offset these costs in two ways:

Please give whatever you can. Even a small amount will make a huge impact in helping others to attend. Donate here, selecting LGBT-FAN from the drop down menu.

  • If you live in the D.C. area, you can also help us reduce costs by hosting Retreat attendees in your home. Please complete this hosting form if you have a couch or room available. We will strive to match people appropriately.

Travel stipend fund:

If financial restrictions will prevent you from traveling to and from the retreat, and staying in D.C., we may be able to partially assist you with travel and lodging costs. Unfortunately, we cannot afford to provide meal stipends or cover travel within D.C.

To apply, please complete this funding application. You can specify lodging needs in the application.

Please note: we will give preference to asylum seekers and asylees.

Accommodation:

LGBT-FAN has secured a group rate at the District Hotel, which is within walking distance of most Retreat events. Rates are: $99 for a single room; $119 for a double room. To book with us, please contact LGBT-FAN Treasurer Eric Scharf ASAP at: escharf@kelseymgmt.com.

If you are in need of cheaper housing options and are willing to stay with a LGBT-FAN host in the D.C. area but are not applying for funding, please contact National Co-ordinator Greyson Brooks at: info@lgbt-fan.org.
