Out4Citizenship Celebrates National Coming Out Day with Focus on Immigration

Out4Citizenship, a campaign run by the Center for American Progress, is documenting and sharing LGBT immigrants stories to highlight “the power these stories have to move comprehensive immigration reform forward.”On October 11, National Coming Out Day, Out4Citizenship posted Krypcia story online.

Krypcia, originally from El Salvador, is an advocate for immigration reform and improved conditions for transgender people in immigration detention. Asked about her work, Krypcia says, “Because up until today, there are people who are giving testimony and who have shared their detention/deportation stories, but it’s all inside what’s considered the straight world. I’m not ashamed to talk about this at all, telling our story is how we can make sure others don’t fall into the same situation.” Read Krypcia’s story here.
